We’re back – and after nearly 18 months it’s so hard to get started – it must have taken me an hour to get started with this post alone! It’s the reason so many of us put off our marketing and communications efforts, and I must admit I had forgotten how tough it can be!
It’s been a long break – longer than I would have liked, and for that I can only apologise. As with many people, we’ve had two years of previously unimaginable change and challenges. I’ve had some of the best days of my life, and some of the worst. We’ve moved home – halfway around the world – and had a number of moves since our return, had a beautiful baby boy, got married and had a spectacular honeymoon (after four postponements), and it is only now that I am taking stock of where we have been and where we are going.
It’s ironic that I sit contemplating the passage of time right now, with the news running in the background, following the movement of the Queen’s coffin. It seems only yesterday we had landed back in the UK, complete with face masks and a large baby bump to stay with family for Christmas. You just never know what is going to happen. It’s so important to be in the present and not put things off for the future – and that includes with your business! There is never a perfect time, it’s better to get started on something than to hold out because you don’t think it’s good enough, but consistency really is key. You just need to be sure you can maintain what you are doing – slow and steady – small steps are much better than one big leap and a long pause of nothing.
On that note, I’m keeping this first post short because if I keep overthinking and changing my mind about the content, it will never be written, and that will hold up the rest of my communications that I want to flow from here. My hope is that, whilst this is very far from my best piece of writing, it will allow me to move forward and create better pieces from here. Thank you so much for sticking with me – more and better things to come, I promise!
